Carol PRUETT Obituary

PRUETT, Carol Price Carol Pruett passed away peacefully, surrounded by her daughters and a longtime family friend on Wednesday, March 7th. She was born 82 years ago in Fort Wayne, IN to Raymond and Ivy (Siddall) Price. As a young child, Carol spent many enjoyable hours with her older sister, Joyce, playing tennis at Weiser Park, roller-skating in the neighborhood and ice-skating at the Reservoir ice rink. As a young girl, Carol moved to Victoria, Australia with her parents. She attended the Geelong Grammar School for girls and, in 1953, was presented to society at the Coral Sea Ball. Carol traveled extensively with her parents, visiting numerous countries across the globe. At 17 she began a successful and varied modeling career in Australia and America as a runway model, in fashion magazines, on television as Miss Colorvision introducing Seattle's first color TV station and also appearing on stage with comedian Bob Hope. In her early twenties, she moved back to the States to live with her sister and brother-in-law and she attended the University of Washington in Seattle. In 1957, Carol relocated to Atlanta, GA with her sister's family. She continued modeling and also worked as a buyer for Rich's, Inc. In 1959, she married her beloved husband of 56 years, Dr. James E. Pruett. Jim and Carol lived in New Orleans, LA and El Paso, TX where Jim completed his residency and specialty training before returning to Atlanta in 1964. Carol was active in numerous charities in the Atlanta area, including the Young Matrons Circle for Tallulah Falls School, the Mt. Paran Civic Association, and the Atlanta Children's Theater. The fundraising parties that she coordinated were legendary. She became active with The Church of the Apostles when they first began meeting at The Lovett School, and served in several volunteer capacities for the church over the past 20 years. Carol was full of life, able to make others laugh hard and long (many times unintentionally but always able to laugh hardest at herself), gracious and generous to all, incredibly kind, exceptionally creative, defined impeccable taste in all things, gorgeous to the last, and had an unlimited capacity for giving expecting nothing in return. Carol Pruett's passing is felt deeply by her family and friends. She leaves behind her her daughters Pamela (Michael) Ouzts and Kimberly (Ray) Kuckleburg; and grandchildren Katelyn Kimberly Ouzts (Chris) Cocco , Taylor James Ouzts, and great-grandchild, Hayden Kristine Cocco. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim, and dearest friend and sister, Joyce Price Croy and her husband Robert Radford Croy, who was a true brother to her. Also surviving are her nephews and nieces and their families: Joan (Chip) Grant; Ken (Judy) Croy and Amanda (Hunter) Croy Clawson and Issac; Jon (Bobbi) Croy and Keriann and Maclaren; Jeff (Susan) Pruett and Jeremy, and Ben (Molly) Pruett and Nancy and Charlie; and precious family friend and caregiver, Dedra Kimbro --- and countless other family members and friends who keenly feel her loss. We would be remiss for not including, Kayla, her furry, four-legged grandchild in the list of those she cherished and who cherished her. A celebration of life service is scheduled for Friday, March 23rd at 11:00 am at Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, GA. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her memory to The Weinstein Hospice, who compassionately served her and her family during her last days.

Dear Pam, Kim and family,
Your lovely mother was the Queen of Olde Ivy. I will always remember her for her loving, considerate and compassionate ways as well as her radiant smile. What a lovely lady that I was blessed to know. How sad I am that she is no longer with us. I had so much fun going to movies, dinner and the theater with her. Her loss must be devastating to all of you. Carol will be in my heart forever. May she rest in peace. May all of you be comforted by wonderful memories.

Pam and Kim, so very sorry for the loss of your mother. I remember my young teen years when we would have fun chats when I came to babysit you two. Both your parents were so kind and meant so much to me.
Love you both,

Carol was a dear friend, and I will miss her terribly. We met at Church Of The Apostles.and volunteered together. We often
enjoyed lunch together after Church over the years, and attended social functions. Carol had a great sense of humor and a
sweet and gentle spirit. I loved her dearly.
