Family-Placed Death Notice

SCHWARTZ, Penny Ms. Penny Schwartz, age 51, of Duluth, GA passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2009. She was preceded in death by: mother, Barbara Ann Baker. She is survived by: father, Edward Schwartz, Deerfield Beach, FL; son, Derrick Schwartz, Duluth, GA; grandson, Kael Alexander Schwartz, Duluth, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Jody and Keith Ahlfinger, Suwanee, GA; brother, Michael Schwartz, Cincinnati, OH; nephews, Chase Ahlfinger, Suwanee, GA and Taylor Schwartz, Cincinnati, OH; and niece, Ashley Schwartz, Cincinnati, OH. Penny was born in Cincinnati, OH and moved to Georgia in 1972. Penny loved her family and friends and most of all her son, Derrick. Most of all, her love for drag racing led to her smoking a tire off every now and then. Her life was a never-ending battle with Crohn's disease and when she was feeling well she was a joy to be with. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Mark Lee officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Arrangements by: Junior E. I have wonderful memories of Penny! She had a beautiful smile and laugh....and I always felt very welcome in their home. Barbara was a kind and warm person. My sympathies to the family. I am so very sorry for your loss.

The loss of Penny and her mom is such a sad tragedy. I graduated with Penny and although we were not close friends, her bright smile and easy going personality is what stood out about her. May the love and graces of God, family and friends help those who loved her make sense of all of this. Thought and prayers to you.

My prayers go out to Penny and Barbara's family. I had lost touch with Penny after moving to Florida but have often wondered how she was doing. We had lots of fun together on the lake and enjoyed working with her Mom, my first job. I am sorry I did not keep in touch and to hear of the tragic ending and not being able to be there to show my respects.

I knew and graduated with Penny in 1975. We enjoyed some time together as friends. Although we lost touch through the years, I remember her as happy and friendly. My sympathy goes out to her family.

Penny was my friend, my very good friend, always there to help out even when she felt not so well herself. When I think of Penny, there is always a boat and water involved...and lots and lots of sunshine! Penny, you were the sunshine in a lot of our lives you touched. You are the sunshine of my life!Love, Linda

Was so very sorry to hear of Penny's death. She and sister Jody were a joy to be around when they moved to Duluth in th 70's. She could "flat have some and fun". I was recently blessed to run into her at afriends funeral. May God be with her and her mom. My prayers are with her family.
