Patrick Curry

CURRY, Patrick James

Patrick James Curry of Acworth, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Pat was born on September 25, 1945, in Temple, Texas, the son of late James and Laura Curry.

Being a military child, he moved around with his family, often overseas. He graduated from high school in Brentwood, West Virginia, and obtained his college degrees through such institutions as Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and Long Beach University in Long Beach, California until he reached his master's degree in business administration.

Pat married the love of his life, Diana, on December 23, 1967, and in January 1969, had their first of two daughters, Lynn. After he returned from Vietnam, they welcomed their second daughter, Catherine. Family was a priority for him, and striking a balance between his career and spending time with them was always of the highest importance. Pat and Diana remained devoted to one another until his passing.

His military career spanned a quarter of a century of service, and he excelled as an officer and leader of men. He had a company and battalion command during his service, and from his leadership skills he was made the G4 of Berlin Brigade, in Berlin, Germany. His time in the Vietnam War was spent fulfilling his role to the best of his abilities and he was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions. Over the course of his career, he also earned multiple other awards, including the Legion of Merit and three Meritorious Service Medals. After he separated from the Army, he went on to a key position in the Operations Division at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas until his retirement as Vice Chancellor.

Traveling was one of his favorite pastimes, and he used any opportunity to see the world. His travels encompassed five continents by land, sea and air, from a utility van he customized for his family to a motor home that served as his and Diana's residence as they toured North America, from as far south as Key West in Florida to as far north as Prudhoe Bay in Alaska. During these travels he sharpened his photography skills, taking stunning photos of the flora, fauna and landscapes that they encountered. He also had a love of history, which heavily influenced the places they would go.

Along with his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his grandson, John Jarrett.

Pat leaves a significant legacy, carried on by his wife, Diana; children, Lynn Curry and Catherine Jarrett; brothers, David and Bart; and grandchildren, Lee Jarrett, Jacqueline Jarrett, and Brendan Curry.

A visitation will be held at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, located at 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA, 30152, on February 13, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
