Richard Manetta Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

MANETTA, Richard Richard Donald Manetta died peacefully in his sleep on September 13. He was born December 10, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY, son of Consolata Grace (Marsilia) Manetta and Pasquale Ralph Manetta. He served as First Lieutenant, Air Corps, U.S. Army during World War II. He piloted a C47, towing gliders, carrying paratroopers and dropping supplies in numerous battles including the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for Uniroyal his entire career in Indianapolis, IN, Wilkes-Barre, PA, and Conyers, GA. Dick is survived by his loving wife Gretchen Ann (Sherry) Manetta and their six children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Children are Richard A. Manetta and partner Sam Stewart, Sherry Manetta and husband Brian Harvey, Patty Manetta, Joseph Manetta and wife Mary, Teresa Maxwell and husband Ray, and Margaret Corbin and husband Tom; grandchildren Alex, Joe, Kristine, Amy, Erin, Chelsea, Lauren and husband Randy, and Michael and wife Brandy; and great-grandchildren Cooper and Ayden. He is also survived by his brother Arthur. Dick was a wonderful and loving husband and father, and was never happier than when he was spending time with his family at their many family gatherings. He will be greatly missed. Services will be at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 600 Mountain View Drive, Stone Mountain, GA at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15. RICHARD DONALD MANETTA

To Patty, Chelsea and the Manetta family, my condolences on the loss of Patty's father and Chelsea's grandfather. He sounds like a very special man, and he raised a special daughter. Please let us know if there's anything the Loupe-Easley family can do.
