What a beautiful young man....no words....too many emotions....and one less light on this earth. Now, Etiennes light resides above... continuing his chosen duty of protecting those he loves and the nation that loves him. This is not the end for Etienne, or any of us.....it is but what is necessary for us to go on to our next phase of life....where, make no mistake, we will all meet In the presence of our Lord God for an Eternity of the Love that first brought us together. Bless You All....baby steps, eat, drink, Pray & breathe. You WILL live again....but only by God's Grace and Peace that SURPASSES all understanding. Until then, cling to the Love & Support of your Community, and the many throughout this World that lift you up daily in Prayer to the Great Healer.. Prince of Peace....the Great I AM. God Bless.

I watched you speak about your son and it touched my heart. In reading about your son, one can only wonder why such an incredible young man was taken so early in his life, we so need men like him. This breaks my heart that such a good and honorable man was taken so early. I have spent many years overseas, have been shot, and have watched my friends die. I know first hand that there is nothing I can do to stop the pain, and I could never understand. I can only thank you for raising such an amazing young man that impacted countless soldiers. A pillar in the Army community that we all looked up to. I will remember him, and I will ask everyone I know to remember him also.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Murphy. I heard you speak and a read about your beautiful son and I want to express how deeply sorry I am for the loss of your boy. I pray that God give you the strength to go on and that you can concentrate on all of the joy and love that your son obviously gave you. My sister lost her son 1 year ago and I watch everyday how devastated that she is, so I know, at least in part, what you are going through. Hearing you speak and reading about your son moved me to find a way to reach out to you and let you know that his loss will never be forgotten. I am an old military veteran, graduated from Ranger school, so I know the path your son chose and am always amazed and thankful that incredible young men like your son continue to want serve others, much like yourselves. To the family and especially the young children of Etienne J. Murphy. I promise I will make every effort as long as I live to be worthy of his sacrifice. I will respect and love my country and its citizen. I will challenge those who seek to limit the freedoms for which your father, husband, child, brother and love one gave his life. I will never take for granted those freedoms upon which our country was founded and prospered. His name will NEVER be forgotten by me as I strive to be a better citizen. I realize that honoring your child's sacrifice is hollow unless it is followed by action to make this a better country. The presence of Mr. and Mrs. Murphy on CNN today changed me as a citizen. It made me want to be worthy of his sacrifice and your heartbreak.
Thanking you for his service is not enough unless I strive to make this country a better place for Etienne's children. For the rest of my days I will endeavor to do so.

Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

I just saw this young hero's parents on MSNBC news, and I was deeply moved. We have all lost something in the death of Ranger Murphy. He, and his parents, are so clearly the epitome of good people, great citizens, and are what makes America great. After living 22 years overseas, I've returned to America, and I appreciate more than ever how great it is, how great we are. America has always been great, and it's because of people like Ranger Murphy and his family. My deepest condolences for your loss. He was clearly a shining star in life, and I'll think of him as one of the shining stars up there in the night sky, forever. I salute that star.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your son/husband/daddy looked like a beautiful, happy, giving young man. You should be so proud of him. He loved his country and, sadly, gave his life for all of us.
