Rebecca "Becky" Winn Holt Roberts, age 70, of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at her home surrounded by those who loved her after living with cancer for four years. Cancer never took Becky's remarkable outlook on life, her drive to survive and her amazing ability to keep going forward. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, David Roberts, Sr.; two sons, William David Roberts, Jr. of Statham, GA, Christopher Reed Holt Roberts of Suwanee, GA; two grandsons, Justin Roberts and his wife, Crystal, of Monroe, GA, Dalton Roberts of Bethlehem, GA; two granddaughters, Nicole Roberts Whisenant and her husband, Will, of Winder, GA, Devan Roberts Klamon of Commerce, GA; great granddaughter, Kimberly Whisenant, and Justin, Dalton and Nicole's mother, Brenda Crawford Roberts of Bethlehem, GA; sister, Margaret Winn Holt Mathis and her husband, Charles, of Lawrenceville, GA; brother, Dr. William "Bill" Grady Holt, III of Birmingham, AL; two nieces, Margaret Annette Mathis Bryant of Marietta, GA, Rebecca Elizabeth Mathis Drucker and her husband Michael of Jefferson, GA; great nieces and nephews, Jake Bryant, Jr., Ava Bryant, Catherine Bryant, Savannah Bryant, Damian Drucker, and Madelyn Drucker; other relatives and a host of many friends. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. William Grady "W.G." Holt, Jr. and Margaret Winn Monfort Holt; maternal grandparents, Clarence Eugene Monfort, Jr. and Rebecca Roddey Winn Monfort; paternal grandparents, W. Grady Holt, Sr. and Floy Jordan Holt. Becky was born on December 17, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia and was the great, great, great, great granddaughter of Elisha Winn, considered the father of Gwinnett County, Georgia. She was a 1966 graduate of Central Gwinnett High School and winner of the 1966 Atlanta Journal Cup Most Outstanding Senior. Becky was an Atlanta All Star Majorette and attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of the Georgette Dance Squad with the University of Georgia Red Coat Marching Band. She was a member of the GoGirl Dance Team at Georgia with Joel Eves (1st Basketball Squad) and member of the 1st GoGirl Dance Team in the SEC. Becky served as Office Manager for 25 years with Environmental Data Corporation. Becky was a charter member of the Lawrenceville Junior Woman's Club and winner of the 1978 Club Woman of the Year. She served as Manager of the City of Lawrenceville Elections, served as a Poll Worker for Gwinnett County Elections, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville. Becky served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Gwinnett County Bulldog Club and member of the Board for the Student Education Fund for the University of Georgia. She served the Gwinnett County Fair Association as Director of the Miss Gwinnett Scholarship Pageant for thirty years and in June 2016 received the Miss America 30 Year Award. Becky will be remembered for her service to her community, outstanding dedication to young women in Gwinnett County, and most of all for her never ending courage and upbeat attitude during her journey with cancer. She will be deeply missed by her family and those who called her friend. The Service Honoring the Life of Becky Holt Roberts will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 11:00AM at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel with Rev. Dr. Joeann H. Malone and Rev. Margaret Hamilton Adams officiating with David McCleskey, Ruth Braselton Morris and Charlene Williams-Canady Sharing Personal Memories. Pallbearers, Honorary Pallbearers, Members of the 1966 Central Gwinnett High School Class, Miss Gwinnett County Scholarship Pageant Officers and Members (Past to Present), and Former Miss Gwinnett County Queens and Outstanding Teens will serve as Honorary Escort. Interment will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home.
