Hal Bonner Obituary

On May 5, 2014, at his home in Auburn, Rev. Hal Bonner passed peacefully from this life and into the presence of Jesus, his Lord. His beloved wife Gay was with him, as she has been for 58 years. Also with him were family and friends who had lovingly cared for him.
Hal was born in Anaheim, California on August 28, 1929. He is survived by Gay; son Tad and his wife Debbie and their children Tyler, Jessica and Nathan; daughter Jana Owens and her husband Darrell and their children Travis and Nikki; son Steven; three brothers; three sisters; and scores of nieces and nephews. He also leaves a multitude of friends.
Hal served as a minister of the gospel in several Nazarene churches in northern and southern California, ending his full-time ministry having served 24 years as senior pastor of Auburn's Parkside Nazarene Church.
His earthly life was one of humble, loving obedience to his Savior. The world is better, and we are blessed because Hal touched lives for God and good.
A celebration of Hal's life will be held at Parkside Nazarene Church on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkside Church of the Nazarene to the Harold Bonner Ministerial Studies Scholarship.

Very solid man indeed. Always good to me as a youngster and good to my family. I remember his smile and firm handshake. My memory is that he would keep a hold of your hand for a moment when he shook it. A very caring man who is now being fitted for a crown. My prayers are with Mrs Bonner, also a wonderful example to me as my first grade teachers assistant at Rock Creek School

I was around 11 or 12 years old when I met Mr. Bonner. He always made me and my sister feel welcome at church. I remember he would come visit us if we missed Sunday school. Thank you. He will be a missed man. He did great things for our community. My heart goes out to his wonderful family.

Hal was a wonderful man. He made us feel so welcome when we first moved to Auburn in 1976. He always would make a point to say hello, whenever he saw us around and about in town. Landa (Bonner) Malmberg & Alan Malmberg
