Lloyd Graybeal Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Lloyd Emmett Graybeal died Thursday, April 7, 2005. Funeral services will be held on April 8, 2005, at 3 PM at Magnolia Cemetery, 702 3rd Street, Augusta. Rabbi David Sirull will officiate. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Rhonda Shapiro Graybeal; his son Lloyd (Lee) E. Graybeal, Jr. of North Augusta S.C.; his daughter, Lisa Graybeal Ziebell of Charollote N.C.; sister, Charity Evans of Grovetown; and his cousin, Barbara Graybeal of Winston-Salem, N.C. Mr. Graybeal was born October 14, 1941, in Kennett Square, Penn. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany. Lloyd was past-chairman of the Georgia State Licensing Board and served on various committees of that board for six years. He was also a Member of the Georgia Auto Dealers Association. For over 30 years, he owned Graybeal Motor Company, Inc., in Augusta, and was considered one of the most ethical businessmen of his time. Lloyd was also a member of the West Lake Country Cl ub and Mount Vintage Golf Club, and enjoyed playing golf with friends regularly. Mr. Graybeal had great compassion for his fellow man and was a strong supporter of children's charities across the region. With those in need, he was always first in line. Above all else, he considered his relationships with family and friends paramount and always pulled for the "underdog." His dry wit and competitive nature kept everyone in good spirits, and this approach to life will be his legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to these endowments or to the Adas Yeshurun Synagogue, 935 Johns Road, P.O. Box 3252, Augusta, GA 30904. Mr. and Mrs. Graybeal have joint endowments at the Medical College of Georgia, c/o MCG Foundation Inc., 919 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30912 and University Hospital, 2100 Central Avenue, Suite D1, Augusta, GA 30904. Pallbearers will be Dr. Terry Shapiro, Scott Shapiro, Jason Moattar, Norman Shapiro, Julius Berman, Alan Rubin, Joel Cohen and Ron Altman. Honorary Pallb earers will be Gerald Shapiro, Hyman Shapiro, Sanford Karesh, Steven Curry, Dr. Ronald Daitch, Phillip Hawkins, William Booker, Ben Civitarese and Gerald Ehrlish. I met lloyd thru my years of employment at Hilltop Auto Auction and as you listed in his obituary, he was the most honest and ethical business man i ever met. I told everyone who ever asked me about buying a used car that Lloyd was who I would always trust. He was a good man and will be missed by his community.
