Jimmy was my banker when I was a young MCG resident . He gave me my first home loan to buy a small cottage on the cheaper end of Milledge road. He treated me like a big time bank customer each time I walked in the bank by the old VA by Daniel Field. I have compared all these big shot east coast bankers in Baltimore where I live now and they don't measure up to a true southern gentleman and gifted banker. miss you my man! I was saddened to hear of Jimmy's passing. He was one of the best bosses I've ever had and was truly a great man. I was always amazed at how he knew just about everyone in Augusta. He had a way of making everyone around him feel special - you wouldn't be around him long before he had everyone laughing. Rest In Peace, friend.

Jimmy was a very fine mentor for me in my early years of banking. I'll never forget the pleasure it gave him to serve his customers/friends. He made everyone feel very special. He fought for what was right despite the consequences. He always approached things from what was right & proper than what was prudent.

What a great guy. In recent months Jimmy had joined our group of friends meeting for breakfast at Chick-fil-A. He was a welcome addition and always fun to be around. We also enjoyed meeting Beth will and Martha Kate on a couple of occasions. He will be sorely missed not only by our group, the rodeos (retired old doctors eating out) but also by his many friends in and around Augusta.

A long time friend has passed and there are many memories brought to mind ... room mates at UGA and a cold water event throwing over the shower curtain ( I won ) ! He and Martha coming to M.E.'s and my wedding in Soperton , GA in 1961 , my youngest daughter and I coming to Jed's wedding ( my wife was with her sick Mom ) , Many visits over the years to his home , attending Martha's funeral and a few sleepovers on my visits to Augusta at his home after my Mom died . I tried to get with him on my 1st Augusta Trip in years last year ( with my daughter Pam and husband ) but he was with his family at the beach ... but I did talk with him over the phone . You were a good part of my life James Murphy Menger - " Jimmy " and I will miss you . Our condolances to the family . Bill and M.E. Ramsbotham

I met Jimmy at the downtown Y years ago. He was a regular in our spinning class and most of the time the recipient and main contributor to our almost daily locker room banter.

Jimmy knew just about everybody who is somebody in Augusta. The conversations and the laughs that were generated will be missed.

He was a friend.

Sincerely,

Claude Gilchrist

Jimmy was a friend and colleague starting in the late 1950's. He had many friends and knew "almost everyone" or something about them. A good banker and customer oriented to the nth degree. He'll be missed.

How sad to hear of the passing of Jimmy Menger. During my junior college days in Augusta, I worked with both him and Martha at the Georgia RR Bank. They were very lovely, thoughtful people. Now they are once again together. May God's healing touch comfort the hearts of their family. With sincere sympathy, Elizabeth Baab
