Marva was truly a refined and dignified gentlewoman whose life was not lived in vain. Her calm, humble, unassuming demeanor belied the tenacity of the teacher who fervently challenged others to move beyond mediocrity to greatness. During our many years on the faculty at Paine College, she never hesitated to serve as mentor, consultant, or advisor whenever I needed her expertise or assistance with projects or programs. Marva Stewart will rest in peace because she served her purpose with a passion on this earth, and thus, earned a prime spot in Heaven's Hall of Fame.

Ms.Marva was truly a blessing! She always had a kind word of encouragement everyday as we worked together at Paine! My children and I loved her and our lives were made all the better because of her kind spirit and words of praise! She was loved by all and will truly be missed!

Once Marva befriended you, she loved you forever. I count it my good fortune to have been on the receiving end of her genuine interest from our teen school days through recent years when we collaborated as HBCU English professors.

Prof. Stewart was one of my all time favorite teachers. She made learning English fun and interesting. She was able to draw out even the most uninterested student engaged in the lesson. She is one of the reasons I became a teacher myself. She will be sorely missed.

I would like to extend my sincere sympathy to Marva's family. It was my privilege to know Marva as a member of the Paine faculty, and more recently to be part of the Paine Retiree Luncheon group which Marva coordinated. It is a total shock to learn of her passing. She will be missed.

To the Stewart Family:
May you find peace and solace as you attend to Marva's homegoing. She was such a dynamic teacher, advocate, writer, photographer, leader and friend. Her quiet and calm demeanor was reassuring. She carried herself as a noble lady with such pride, dignity and determination. She was an intellectual, curious about the world, but grounded in her faith and social affiliations. We were fast friends in high school and maintained periodic contact throughout the years. I will remember her writing for the Augusta Metro Courier as well as her photographic contributions. Also, I know that she impacted hundreds of students during her tenure at Paine College.
Rest assured that she has earned her heavenly wings and now resides in the celestial realm with her beloved family and friends. "Weep May Endure For A Night, But JOY Comes In The Morning"
Peace and Blessings: Randy Gunter, Ph.D.

It was my delight to have met Marva as a student during my tenure at Paine College during the early 70s. She was an excellent student in both classroom and decorum. I morn her passing. My sympathy to the Stewart family.
