Colonel, it's been four years. The vacancy is palpably unsuited to our desire for closure.
Always on our mind, never forgotten. Still one of our heroes.

I didn't know Col Bates (although I do have relatives by that name), but after reading the obituary I felt compelled to offer my gratitude for his service to our country. My wife has Parkinson's, and I admire his courage, and also the compassion of his family. I offer my sincere condolences to his family and pray that the Lord's Spirit will be with and comfort them at this time of great loss.

To the Bates Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

I'm so sorry for your loss my grandmother passed away not to long ago and reading the verse revaluation 21:3,4 helped me with my grief because it reminded me that I should have hope because I'll be able to see her again.
