To my friend Dave-O -- I worked with you in the 70s. Your humor and practical jokes lightened up the atmosphere at Capital. Thank you for serving as my confidant over the years. I'll always remember the kindness you extended to a woman in distress.

David, aka (coach, Bub, yogi bear). You started off as my baseball coach when I (T.J.) was 5 years old and always treated me like a son. I will always remember all the good times we had together like skiing, hunting (212), and cat fishing to name a few. I know how much you have done for me and so many others and I will do my best to pay it forward and make this world a better place as you have done. I will always love and miss you.

I had the great privilege of meeting David when we both were going to college. We hit it off right away and became roommates, because neither one of us could afford a place of our own. In order to support ourselves we both worked full time and took a full load at school. We instantly became best friends, and for me, he became the brother I never had. We never called ourselves by first names; it was always "roommate". Hey roommate what going on, or roommate what are we doing this weekend. The nicknames have stuck over the years, and we still used them. When I answered the phone and I heard "roommate" I knew instantly it was David and it always brought a smile to my heart.
Once David considered you his friend you became an extended part of his family. The one thing that meant the most to David was his family and that included his extended family. If you knew David well, you knew that he took great delight in providing joy to his family and extended family. He did this in many ways, one of which was by saying something funny in response to a conversation you just started with him, or by just looking at you in that funny way without saying anything, until you both broke out laughing. Another way David provided Joy to others that he cared for was to always come to their aid in time of need or crisis. There wasn't anything too big or small that he wouldn't help you with. As we all know David had the biggest, kindness, most compassionate Heart of pure, 100 percent gold, than anyone ever possess. This part of him help me learn by example, how the lead a more compassionate life and how to be a better Human Being. I'm a much better person than I ever would have been, because he was part of my life.

Thanks Roommate.

As I was looking through old photos this week, I am reminded of all the memories in the days of raising our kids . . . family reunions at Fort Robinson, boating at Box Butte Co. Dam, the hot air balloon flight over Steamboat, eating sopaipillas at Casa Bonita in Denver and on. Thanks to you, Jonathan and Crystal sat on the bench with Charles Barkley at the Bulls/Suns game. To this day, that picture hangs in a prominent spot in his apt. I'll never forget the day I first met you when you and Paula first started dating - you were hiding in the bushes near the pool to overhear if Paula was telling her sister good things about you. But we quit talking when we heard laughter coming from the bushes. What a life you have had! You will be missed by our family.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Dave's family. Tho I lost contact with Dave more than 25 years ago, I'll always remember the Big Guy with the Big Heart. I coached baseball with Dave in the Maryland Little League, where Dave kept that League going singlehandedly for hundreds of kids year after year. His dedication and service to our community was greatly appreciated by many. You will be sorely missed!

Words do such an injustice to explain how much David will be missed. He will live on in each of us that had the privilege of knowing him. I feel so blessed to have known David for the short time I did. The Dalai Lama said that “Our primary purpose in life is to help others and if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.” And I believe that was how David lived his life. He was a kind and generous man and he loved his family tremendously. To the Porter family, my deepest sympathy. Please know you are in my prayers and may you find peace from the memories you all share of David.

Although I did not know David well he was a loyal customer to our small family business for 15 years. He was always pleasant and happy. Reading the entries here I am not surprised to see what a wonderful man he was. He left a truly positive legacy.

My heartfelt prayers to his family and friends. I can see how much he will be missed.

I was shocked to hear of my Cousin's (from Italy) passing. David has been my friend since Camelback High School and was the closest thing to a brother that I ever had. I am glad that you are finally free of pain and at peace. I don't know when but we will meet again and share some more laughs and of course, beers. I miss you my Brother and always will.
As my Dad would have said, we have lost one of the "good guys" and that is a compliment that he didn't give out often! My sincerest condolences to David's family and friends.

Although I only met Mr. Porter once, I will never forget him. When my son in law's brother passed away Mr. Porter offered to pay for the entire funeral, casket, plot, etc. He knew Kenntrell through his daughter and even though they were not together anymore he made this kind offer to the family. I had never met anyone so caring as Mr. Porter. He touched my heart.

There are not enough words to describe the great times I have shared with David. Working for David has been such a great blessing. He has treated me like family and I have tried to do the same for him. Watching him suffer these many years has been very difficult. Everyone at Capitol Engineering has worked hard so David wouldn't have to worry about his business. There is a void in our hearts that has been left by a very generous man leaving us too soon. I pray that David's family will find peace through our Saviour Jesus Christ. David, we love you and will miss you.

David was a wonderful friend and mentor to me all of my life. As a business associate he did whatever it took to help me succeed at the Anderson Clayton Cotton Seed Oil Mill. I am now retired and frequently visited David at his shop. He was always positive, upbeat, and had a kind word for an old friend. I will truly miss his friendship. Blessings, Paul and Pat Dwyer, Anderson Clayton, Retired Mill Superindentent.

Though I haven't seen him in many years, I have tons of fond memories of David. He loved life so much and was always willing to give a little extra to promote everybody elses happiness. Always had a great smile, and a loving heart. The world needs more angels on earth like David.

I don't think there will ever be a man with a heart as big as David's. The way he honored my dad (Sal Arredondo)by bringing the entire company to his service is a perfect example of this fact & will always be remembered by my family & I. David, you will be missed. Ralph Arredondo

Dearest brother, you will be greatly missed. I remember the times that you use to tell me that there was a dog in our backyard, then you would go and take my pork chops off of my plate. I remember the hits in my legs each time a volkswagon would go by (slug bug). The time that we took Jack to Tonto creek to go fishing when Jack was 3. Jack caught 2 trout. David (0). When Jack and I came back from having a bite to eat, our fish was gone and you caught 2. How did that happen? The time that you took me to your dorm that you shared with Dennis. Seeing all of those beautiful woman pinned up in your room. I could not leave. You made me laugh unconditionally. You gave me your love and friendship and I will cherish that forever. I love you brother. And, I always told you so.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of David. David was an extremely caring and generous man; always willing to help someone in need. His smile and enthusiasm for life will never be forgotten. I think the first time I (Patty) met David was after a big surgery at St. Luke's. As his nurse for the shift, and my first time caring for David, I told him that he needed to walk me through his dressing change, and his comment was "Oh God, help me!" He always had a sense of humor. David will be missed. With deepest sympathy,
