Edward Taylor Obituary

Edward 'Ed' Maher Taylor May 6, 1929 - March 22, 2012 Ed passed away at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by daughter Pennye Taylor, his parents and sister Marilynn. He is survived by his wife Lila after 64 years of marriage, and their son Phil Taylor. Ed was born in Santa Monica, California, the first child of Edward Lawson "Bud" Taylor and Mary Margaret "Peggy" Taylor. His family moved to Bakersfield, California when he was three months old. Ed married his wife Lila 64 years ago in 1947. They had two children, daughter Pennye Lynn and son Phillip. Ed spent 37 years working for Ma Bell, starting as a lineman and retired his career as a telephone real estate manager in Bakersfield. Ed and his wife Lila were always very proud of their children and were very close. They both loved the years of family travels, fishing and RVing. Later came GoKarting, dune buggies, 3 wheelers, motorcycles and Ed being chief mechanic of Phil's GoKart and motorcycle racing years. His last love was restoring and building two different busses into RV Coaches and traveling coast to coast in their Eagle Coach for 22 years, meeting and establishing many wonderful friends. His most recent trip was this year to a motorhome convention and rallies in Indio, California and Quartzite, Arizona. Ed also loved his Doxie dogs, Peaches and Pumpkin. They will miss him, too. Ed is now at peace on his last journey to Heaven. Thank you to Ronnie Ely and Tom Kelly for his last sacrament. ~~~***~~~ Ed's wishes ~~~***~~~ To have a private graveside for the immediate family close to his beloved daughter Pennye. Flowers for the family graveside will be accepted by the funeral home on Wednesday for transport to the cemetery. To also honor his wishes, a get together will be held at a later date for friends and pals to share great memories along his 82 years of a good life.... and a little Roy Orbison music (his favorite singer) couldn't hurt. Dress will be comfy casual, jeans, etc. The plans are in the works for the time and place for this celebration of Ed's life. If you would like to join us, please email [email protected]. We will email you with the information. If you do not have access to email please call Lila or Phil. Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara Funeral Directors (661) 324-9821 www.bakersfield.com/obits
