Marilyn Dee Perkins
July 29, 1936 - December 30, 2020
Marilyn Dee Perkins passed away peacefully on December 30th, 2020. She was 84 years old. In the weeks leading to her death, she was surrounded by her family, visiting and listening to her favorite music.
Marilyn was born in Long Beach, CA to Warren N. Brackett and Ingrid J. Brackett. She was of Norwegian lineage and was proud of her heritage. Her family later moved to Bakersfield, CA where she attended local schools and graduated from East Bakersfield High School. During high school, she met the love of her life Ronnie W. Perkins. They were married in 1956 and shortly after started their family. They had four children: Nance, Linda, Ronald, and Randy.
Marilyn was a homemaker most of her life, supporting her husband's career throughout California. She took great pride in running her household, always ensuring her husband and children were well taken care of and happy. She was known for her amazing cooking, great sense of style, fabulous taste in music, and her exquisite art collection. She had a strong spirit and natural beauty. Some of her most treasured times were spent at her beach house in Pismo Beach with her family and friends and the many trips traveling with her husband in their RV. She was a great listener and acted as the rock and moral compass for her children and grandchildren, providing guidance, encouragement, and love to all those around her. She will be deeply missed.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Ronnie Perkins, her parents Warren and Ingrid Brackett, sisters Beverly Riggins, Patsy Higgins, Joy Daniels and brothers Warren Brackett and Jimmy Brackett, and son-in-law William McKinley Jr. She is survived by her children Nance McKinley, Linda (Patrick) Scofield, Ronald (Joan) Perkins, and Randy Perkins (Stefanie Sanden). She is also survived by her grandchildren Todd McKinley (Megan), Natalie Williams (Kelly), Courtney Peters (Bryan), Sean Scofield (Melissa), Caitlin Adkins (Tyler), Ryan Perkins, Reid Perkins, Russell Perkins (Hannah), Riley Perkins, Maggie Perkins, Klara Perkins, Sam Perkins, Amberly Sanden, William Sanden-Perkins and her great grandchildren Tegan McKinley, Cooper and Brady Williams, Bennett and Henry Peters, and Emma Scofield.
In honor of her wishes, no services will be held. The entire family would like to thank her in-home care providers, Precious Hendley, Kristi Odom, and Merilyn Bergstrom and her staff at Sage Care Homes for their loving and compassionate care in her final stages of life.
