Adelaide Ann Herman Voltz, age 98, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Adelaide was the beloved wife of the late Philip Allerton Voltz, who passed away on June 17, 2024. Adelaide was born on April 8, 1927 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama – the only child of the late Harry Oliver Herman and Arramilla Adelaide Smith Herman. Adelaide was a graduate of William & Mary University, where she developed her lifelong love of learning. Upon graduation she married Philip, and deftly grew into her role as the family matriarch – expertly cultivating a rich and loving home for her husband and five children, becoming her family’s North Star. In 1957 the young couple built their family home in Malvern, Pennsylvania, where they lived and raised the children. Adelaide and Philip were ever involved with the children’s sports teams, school events, and loved to spend time at the family cabin in the Poconos.As a second career, Adelaide and Philip co-founded Energy Management Systems. Inc. in 1980. Beginning as a small family business, EMS3 grew into a nationally recognized utility service.In 2008, Adelaide and Philip moved to White Horse Village in Newtown Square Pennsylvania where they enjoyed a welcoming community that provided an abundance of activities and opportunities to engage with others. While Philip (ever the craftsman) spent his time in the shop fixing and building things for the other residents, Adelaide spent her time connecting with the community – volunteering in the center’s library, playing piano for residents, participating in the Village Singers’ Choir, and cherishing her shade garden. The children of Adelaide and Philip would like to thank the staff of White Horse Village and Main Line Hospice for the care and comfort they provided to both of their parents while living there.Adelaide enjoyed philosophy, historical novels, gardening, and traveling with her husband in retirement.
