Adolph William's Obituary

Adolph William “Bill” Jansen, Jr., age 82, of Wichita Falls, Texas passed away Monday morning, July 17, 2023, at his residence.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls with Associate Pastor Georgia Harrison officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Bill was born July 2, 1941 in Electra, Texas to the late Adolph William “Mutt” Jansen and Vertie Louise “Squirt” Bowery Jansen.

After graduation from Archer City High School, Bill earned his Master’s Degree in Education from North Texas State University-now the University of North Texas. He taught junior high and high school for twelve years. He then was an engineer and Regional Accounts Manager for Dowell Schlumberger. After returning to Wichita Falls, he was the District Manager of Dowell Schlumberger.  After his father’s death, he managed the family business, Jansen Well Service. He worked at Falls Distributing until his final retirement.

He married Lauren Andrea Marschall on August 27, 1966 in San Angelo, Texas.

Bill was passionate about education, public service, and the outdoors. His greatest wish for his children and grandchildren was for them to complete their formal education and combine that with a solid work history. He was especially proud when his wife surpassed his own educational level-obtaining her PhD. His daughter Meredith followed his direct path-earning a Master’s in Education, and his daughter Andi attended his alma mater through the UNT system.

Bill’s call to public service was picked up by all three of his children: David followed him as a Firefighter/EMR and both Meredith and Andi are Federal employees.

Bill combined his love for service and the outdoors by being a lifelong volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, and he was especially proud of his fundraising efforts to help young scouts attend Philmont Scouting camp. His son David shared numerous scouting experiences with him and hopes to continue the tradition with his own son.

Bill was his best self when he could be active outdoors. He enjoyed grilling, woodworking, fishing, hunting, hiking, and cutting firewood.  His favorite time of year was spending his summer at his Colorado cabin and inviting his friends and family to visit.

Bill was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Wichita Falls and Delta Sigma Phi international fraternity.

Survivors include his wife, Lauren of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Andi Jansen of Tyler, and Meredith Jansen of Wichita Falls; one son, David Jansen and wife, Amanda of Tuttle, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Tyler Crawford of Azle and Caleb Jansen of Tuttle; one sister, Karen Fox of Archer City; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dogs, Wrigley and Mazey.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Bette Rowe on October 17, 1979.

The family suggests memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, the Archer City Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 367, Archer City, Texas 76351 or to the Humane Society, 4360 Old Iowa Park Rd, Wichita Falls, Texas 76305.
