Not sure what to say?

I'm so sad to learn that Al, or as I knew him, Mr. Concilio, passed. He was one of the best teachers I ever had in my youth and left a lifelong impression on me. I was such a silly child and he endured it all with gentle kindness. I can still hear him clearing his throat pointedly and correcting me to say "May I go to the bathroom" instead of "can I", and I'm sure I wasn't "getting away" with reading under my desk as often as he tolerantly allowed me to. He was one of the good ones and I...

He was dearly loved by my husband Robert and myself. Such a kind and gentle man. Sending love and condolences to the family Sandy.. Love always Tobert and Tracy Maluk

My condolences to his family and so sorry to read of Mr. Concilio´s passing. He was my 6th grade teacher in a group of 3 along with Mr. Riordan and Mrs. Bruno at Mead school. The first year of putting all the six graders in Ansonia together at Mead School. He was my favorite. He started my interest in science and was a big part of a very enjoyable 6th grade.

Al Concilio was a remarkable teacher who had a great impact on the lives of countless children - as well as me! I had the privilege of working alongside him one summer. He sure could spark a passion for science! He made learning an exciting adventure. Al had a terrific knowledge of nature and animals and he shared it with those lucky enough to know him. Beyond that, he had kindness and patience that made every student feel valued. You will be dearly missed Al, but never forgotten!

I first met Al at a Trout Unlimited Meeting. It was to be my last meeting I thought, but at the end of that meeting Al got up and asked for volunteers to help him with a project that he was in charge of called “Trout in the Classroom”. There wasn,t a lot of enthusiasm in the room and since I had some spare time I volunteered. It was the start of a new friendship. Every year when it was time to pick up the eggs you could hear an excitement in his voice. He knew he was going to be in...

Dear Sandy, Jon, and Amy,
We are so sorry to hear of Alan’s passing. The only saving grace being that it was a peaceful passing. All our love, Glenn and Bess

Alan was an inspiration to me in my early days of teaching and throughout our time as colleagues at Beecher Road School. Our sincere sympathy to Sandy and family. I know his legacy will live on through the many students who came to love science under his guidance.
