We are saddened to learn about Alan. It is such a loss of one whose mind & wit inspired many. Just a couple of summers ago he seemed to be experiencing something of a renaissance--his health rebounded, was walking unassisted, off a lot of meds. He was so proud of the legal brief he just completed with a fellow attorney--he felt it was his best work. To Pat & Rohin, these are among the things for which we will always remember Alan.

For me, one of Alan's long-time friends and mentees, his loss is simply devastating. He and Pat were friends for over 40 years and were like my second family. He taught me at GW's graduate Museum Studies program, and Pat and I became museum colleagues as our own careers developed.

Until just over a year ago, the three of us would trade long phone calls at least twice monthly, during which we discussed everything from gardening to animal husbandry to museum governance and of...

Rohin, we have you and your family in our prayers. May the fact that you stood by him, as a stellar son, provide you comfort in your times of grief.
