Not sure what to say?

Very sad to learn of Al's passing. I got to play under Al's direction twice with the Guy Lombardo band. Of all the "ghost band" leaders, he's the only one I've known to learn all the musicians' names before they arrive for the gig. When you showed up, he would greet you by name. I never forgot that. A fine musician and a thoughtful person.

I have had the pleasure of hearing stories about Al from my Dad, Sid Stutz and even got to have a few great conversations myself with Al. I know that Al and Sid were very dear friends until the very end. Rest in Peace Al and love and condolences to any who knew Al. -

Around the 2000 era our Mens Club was sitting around Lake De Pue during the races listening to all the loud boats and music. We wanted to do something for our senior citizens to celebrate all the had done for the Village of De Pue. We got the phone number for Al Pierson and I said I would give hime a call and see what happens.
Immediately he answered and I told him who I was and what we were looking for, he told me to give him the dates of next year races and he would get back to me. I...

I have known Al when he was living in Bloomington/Normal, Illinois and going to Illinois State. Al played piano in the same band my dad was a player in and they would practice in our house. Al and I would meet up every year when he would have the Lombardo band at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. Al was a very good piano player. I will use his Al Pierson Band this Saturday on my Big Band Saturday Night radio show. KCMRfm.com 8-10 PM "Big Band" Bob Ray.

Al had a great band and run a tight ship. As a ballroom operator, we thought so much of him and his band members. May he rest in peace. Suzanne Matter/Matter´s Ballroom

So sorry to hear of this news!! Al was an amazing personality and bandleader!!! His ability to make people and dancers happy was beyond any expectations in the waning years of the big band era!!! A contemporary of my dad, Eddie Skeets, Al instead of being regional, was national in his sharing the big band USA!!! Many great memories of not only Al but his wonderful music!!! His work with the Guy Lombardo orchestra only confirms his musical talent and abilities!!! God bless and rest in eternal...

Dad and I worked with Al over the years, many jobs and considered him family. He spoke proudly of his own family many times. We knew Al as a great piano player, band leader, arranger, entertainer, Christian and friend. He will be missed.

I played with Al as lead trumpet many times over the years and did many cruises, concerts, and even a Presidential inauguration. He was a great musician, entertainer and friend. He was also a brother in our Christian Faith. RIP Al . Continued Prayers for his family and many friends around the world!

I knew Mr. Pizzamiglio as his student at Heyworth Grade School, Heyworth, Illinois. His exuberant personality and love of music has greatly influenced me during my life. I will always remember the great "Follies" he produced at our school in addition to all the music programs. Thank you, Mr. P. There is music in heaven, and I will be excited to see you there . . .
