So sorry for your loss. Albert was a very special loving and caring person who will be missed by many. Al was generous to a fault and always Community minded.

a great man and friend,he always had time to visit. He did alot for the town of Lynnville, very generous..will be missed. Was a great friend to my parents, the Tices .

Albert's Obituary

Albert H. Terpstra, 98, of Lynnville died Saturday, November 22, 2025, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.

 

As per his wishes he was cremated and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

 

Albert was born on April 25, 1927, to Arie and Rena (Visser) Terpstra in Lynnville, Iowa. In January of 1948, he married Mildred VanGenderen. He proudly served his country in the Navy.

 

In 1949, Albert joined his brother, Arnold, at the Lynnville Seed Company until his retirement in 1981. He was a charter member of the Lynnville Lions Club and past president and member of several organizations including the Lynnville – Sully School District, Lynnville Telephone Company and the Iowa Seed Dealers Association. Albert served many years as the Mayor of Lynnville and the chairman of the board for First State Bank in Lynnville.

 

Albert enjoyed playing golf and tennis. In the winter months, he would crack black walnut for the holidays. He always made time for family and loved them dearly.  

 

Survivors are his children, Teresa Rizzo of Kansas City, Missouri, Craig (Karen) Terpstra of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Kyle (Tamara) Terpstra of Lynnville, Iowa; four grand children, Eric (Laura) Terpstra, Alex (Hannah) Terpstra, Laura (Zach) McCalester and Carver (Shalane) Terpstra; and four great grandchildren, Evelyn Terpstra, Maeve McCalester, Weston McCalester and Carmyn Terpstra. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred; three brothers George, John and Arnold; three sisters, Elizabeth VaRees, Alma Terpstra and Alice LaRosa.
