Mr. Albert Whitfield Jr., 68, of Benton Harbor, Michigan was born December 3, 1945 in Lula, Mississippi to Albert Whitfield Sr. and Ethel Lee Whitfield. He departed from this life on Wednesday, November 5, 2014.Albert attended school in Lula, Mississippi and later graduated with an Associate's Degree in Sociology from Coahoma Junior College of Friars Point, Mississippi.Albert moved to Benton Harbor Michigan in 1967 looking for better employment opportunities. He began working for Auto Specialties until the plant closed. Later, he worked as a security guard with the Pinkerton Security Company, after which he became his own boss transporting family and friends to appointments.He leaves in loving memory his wife of 45 years, Mrs. Barbara (Delaney) Whitfield; their two sons: Kelvin Whitfield and Dwayne Whitfield, both of Benton Harbor, Michigan, his son, Albert Willie Earl Young, also of Benton Harbor; his grandchildren: Jasmine, Dwayne Jr., Shakeela, Lakia, Kriscia, Kelicia, Kristial, and Avery; sisters: Ollie Heardman and Essie Hubert of Benton Harbor; brothers: Alex (Deborah) Whitfield of Houston, Texas, Thomas Jerry Whitfield of Benton Harbor, and Tommie Lee (Georgia) Green of Clarksdale, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be missed dearly.He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Albert Whitfield Sr. and Ethel Lee Whitfield; his grandparents; a sister, Josephine Whitfield; and a brother, Richard Whitfield.Funeral services for Albert Whitfield Jr. will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, 204 S. Fair Avenue, Benton Harbor. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m.
