We had the pleasure of spending time with Alberta about a week ago when we were visiting Clyo from the Philadelphia area. She was her usual talktative self and we loved it. She will be sorely missed by so many. God hope you are ready to sit and talk...and talk...

Clyo-Mrs. Alberta Scruggs Jones, 67 passed away at her home on Sunday, June 5, 2016. Viewing Friday, June 10, 2016 from 1-7 p.m at Smalls Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral June 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church, 122 2nd St., Clyo, Ga. Interment Taylor Chapel Cemetery. Body will lie-in-state from 10:00am til the hour of service.Mrs. Alberta Jones was born on January 6, 1949 in Clyo, Georgia to Mrs. Virginia Fitts. She was one of nine children. She was joined in holy matrimony on July 12, 1975 to the late William Jones, Jr. To this union they had one son, two daughters, and one adopted daughter. Alberta was a long time member of Taylor's Chapel Independent Church. She was a member of the senior choir, served as an officer on the stewardess board, and also a member of the mother's board. Alberta departed this life on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at her residence with her family by her side. She leaves to cherish her fond memories: (3) Daughters, Sherita E Ballard, Covington, GA, Sharell A. (Maurice) Goldwire, Clyo, GA, & Gladys D. Shy, Covington, GA; (1) Son, Marvin E. (Velveeta) Scruggs, Rincon, GA; (3) Granddaughters, Brittani B. Scruggs & Tyra T. Scruggs, both of Rincon, GA, & Enfiniti Shields (Skye), Covington, GA; (1) Godson, Justin Wright, Clyo, GA; (4) Four sisters, Betty (Sherman) Griffin, & Carolyn Warner, both of Clyo, GA, Marsha (Isiah) Lee, Springfield, GA, & Mary (Wylie) Wilson, Garnett, SC; (3) Brothers, David (Teri) Scruggs, Sr., Savannah, GA, Joseph (Gladys) Scruggs, Sr., Clyo, GA, & James (Dorothy) Fitts, both of Clyo, GA.
