Aletha Larry, a devoted God-fearing woman who cherished her family, passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 89. Aletha was born on March 20, 1936 in Jasper County, MS to the late, Claude Lee and Annie May Woodard. She was also preceded in death by her daughter; Pamela Murray, sisters; Ruby Nell Jones, May Nell Newell, Claudia Ann Moore and brother; Floyd Lee Woodard.
A compassionate caregiver, she served her community as an in-home nurse for over 30 years. She was a dedicated long time member of New Bethal Baptiste Church, where she served faithfully as an usher. Her legacy of service and devotion will be cherished by all who knew her.
Aletha was survived by 3 children; Peggy (Ben) Ingram of Pontiac, MI, Owen (Kim) Larry of Lansing, MI and Carmela Larry of Waxahachie, TX; grandchildren, Omar (Jenny) Valentin, Asia (Jeremy) Leak, Camille (Hassan) Stigler, Taniesha Thomas, Kwame’ (Emily) Larry, Amoni Ingram, Cheyenne Ingram, Chinara Larry and Elijah Gresham; brothers; Harold M. Woodward, of Laurel, MS, and Charles M. Woodward, of Manhattan, NY; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great, and great-great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Aletha will be held on Monday, February 9. 2026, at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan. The family hour is scheduled for 10:00am and the service will promptly start at 11:00am. Services will conclude with the internment at Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan.
