Alex J. McCartney Sr., Age 44, of Minerva, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in Mercy Medical Center. He was born July 19, 1971 in Philippi, WV. He worked for North Star Asphalt in N. Canton and is a member of the Laborer's Union #1015 in Canton.He is survived by his wife, Lisa (Burns) McCartney whom he married Sept. 24, 1999, 5 children, Anthony McCartney Sr. of Wilmington, NC, Amber McCartney (Shawn) of East Canton, Alex "A.J." McCartney Jr. of Minerva, Victoria (Derek) McGary of Malvern and Jeffery Smith (Margo) of Minerva, mother, Carolyn (Kenny) Mayle of Canton South, sister, Twila (Phil) Collins of Minerva, brother, Arnold (Crystal) McCartney of East Canton and 6 grandchildren, Emily, Brayden, Dalila, Aubree, Chloe and Noah and aunt and uncle, Emogene and Wilmouth Mayle of Paris. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence and Evelyn McCartney. Funeral services will be Sat. at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Pastor Ronnie Mayle officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
