Alexander Daniel Lind, Jr.

Funeral services for Alexander Daniel Lind Jr. will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Fr. Walter Ajaero officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.

 

The family requests that visitation be observed from 12:00 p.m. until shortly before time of services in the funeral home on Wednesday.

 

Mr. Lind, 96 of Pineville, passed away on January 24, 2018 in Tioga Community Care Center, Tioga.

 

He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the 486th Bomber Group. He flew 35 combat missions over Europe in a B-17 Bomber. He was training to fly in the B-29 when the war ended.

 

He is preceded in death by his son, James Alexander Lind; his sister, Phyllis May Sherman; and his parents Alexander Daniel Lind Sr. and Margaret Caughlin Lind.

 

Those left behind to cherish his memory include one nephew, Norman Sherman and wife, Hope; one niece, Susan Ann Sherman and husband, Roger; and a daughter-in-law, Supannee Lind.

 Pallbearers will be Brian Couvillon, Howard McKee, Edwin Pippin and William Woodward.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
