Alfred Eugene Stubbs Sr. was born in Gary, IN 12/26/1946.  His biological parents were Ernestine & Robert Huey who proceeded him in death in 1947.  Shortly after their death; Alfred and his twin brother Eldred were adopted by Gary, IN family members Carrie & Garrett Stubbs, who nurtured the twins as their own and  cultivated a relationship with the Lord at an early age for them until their own deaths.  Alfred is also proceeded in death by two previous wives Sheila Stubbs and Irving Jean Stubbs.

Alfred attended Gary School systems and was an immensely proud alumni of the Roosevelt H.S. graduating class of 1964.   Testing high in academics, he pursued a secondary education at Drake University to study Biology.  Upon completing a year of studies, he enlisted in the Marines in August 1966 and completed two tours in Vietnam by July 1970.  Alfred returned home signing on as a recruiter for his beloved Marine Corp.  His next act of service was becoming a serviceman veterans’ representative for Work One where he assisted in placement of servicemen/woman throughout NW, Indiana.  Alfred swiftly added to his role at Work One by ensuring Veteran awareness of benefits and program eligibility.  When he was passionate about a job it was definitive, he excelled at it.

Alfred (Paw-Paw / Pops / Daddy) was always one of the most charming people that lit up a room with his compliments, smiles & dimples.  He loved talking about his TV shows, Sports, CNN News, and simply listening to old school R&B music like the Spinner’s and O’Jays.  He wanted his family to win perhaps in even ways he had not personally; so, his subtle messages about life will be forever sketched in our memories.  If he learned anyone was joining the armed forces and it wasn’t the Marines a conversation was on the radar because he only saw MarinesJ  Like everyone else, he had many layers that we all grew to adore with LOVE being of the most importance.  He felt strongly about “living your best life" and pieces of him will live on in his offspring and anyone who encountered his presence.

On Wednesday 10/21/20 afternoon Alfred Eugene Stubbs surrounded by family was called home to the Lord.  He is survived by his twin brother Eldred Edward Stubbs of Philadelphia, Ex-wife Eva Annette Stubbs, Uncle Bill (Evette) scales.  Children:  Son: Alfred II (Camille) Stubbs Daughter: Lisa Stubbs Step-children: Brandon (Marlene) Stubbs and Tammi Nowlin.  Grandchildren: Melanee Stubbs, Sydnee Stubbs, Robert Adams, Alfred Stubbs III, Alyion Stubbs, Cora Taya Adams, Braedan Stubbs, Alysa Adams Great Grandchildren: Caedan Novak, Noah Adams.  Nephew: Eldred Edward Stubbs Jr, Special Friends: Kenneth Thurman, Barbara Brown, Jerri Lovelace-Brown, John Williams and a host of family and friends.

“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, is to present with the Lord .”

2 Corinthians 5:8 (New King James)
