Alicia Gay (Spomer) Powell passed away Saturday, September 27th, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born to Fern and Richard Spomer on Christmas Eve, 1940 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Alicia met Robert M. “Bob” Powell when they were set up by family and they married November 4th, 1966.
After Alicia retired from Oklahoma Natural Gas and Bob retired from the Federal Aviation Administration, they moved to Eufaula, Oklahoma where they enjoyed a life of fishing, boating, their dog “Little Bit,” and fun with daughter, Kelly. Alicia stepped into the role of second mom to Kelly and embraced her as her own. Alicia worked in Home Health Care during her time in Eufaula and had a loving and kind demeanor which made her a compassionate caregiver. After her husband died, Alicia moved back to her home in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to take care of her mother.
Alicia was an active member of Kingfisher First United Methodist Church, singing alto in the choir and serving as the treasurer of the United Methodist Women’s group there. She was known for her delicious Lemon Bars, her quick smile, and her unassuming nature. She enjoyed going to the Civic Center Music Hall to see shows with her friend, Judy, and loved music. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Alicia was preceded in death by her mother, father, and husband. She is survived by her step-daughter, Kelly Powell, and her cousins Eddie Hladik, Lisa Thompson, and Greg Green.
