Alton Leon Bell, a cherished member of the Blanco, Texas community, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of September 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born on November 10, 1929, in Bell County, Texas, to Hasta Brown Bell and Velma (Vanderford) Bell, Alton lived a life rich in family, labor, and love.
After graduating from Bartlett High School, Alton began farming in his hometown, a testament to his deep-rooted connection to the land. His career path led him to Texas City, Texas, where he worked at the BP Amoco Refinery for several years until a layoff prompted a new chapter in his life. Alton then dedicated approximately a decade to the dairy industry, contributing his skills to Foremost Dairy Products and later to Carnation. Eventually, he returned to BP Amoco and continued to serve in various capacities until his well-deserved retirement.
Following his retirement, Alton and his beloved wife, Anne, embraced a new adventure as hosts at Blanco State Park, where they brought warmth and hospitality to countless visitors. Their enduring love for each other and their dedication to their community remained evident as they chose to make Blanco their home.
Alton is survived by his devoted wife of 74 years, Shirley “Anne” Bell; his two sons, Raymond Bell and David Bell, along with his wife Brenda; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of love and strength. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Terry Bell, and his sister Ruth Miller.
