Alvin "Butch"'s Obituary

Alvin Lee “Butch” Ewing, Sr. 63, departed this life on August 5, 2020 at Memorial Hospital, He was born February 9, 1957 in Springfield, IL, son of Dorinda Faye Ewing and Walter Sanders.

He married Dorothy Buckner on June 19, 1982.

Mr. Ewing was a Senior Truck Driver at The City of Springfield Public Works Department where he retired after working there for 27 years faithfully.  He also worked for Boston Richie Moving Co., Lums Restaurant and Juicie Rich for many years.

He accepted Christ at an early age at Union Baptist Church, where he was member.  “Butch" played basketball for the church league.  He enjoyed watching old’ school black and white movies, “Let’s Make A Deal”, “Family Feud”, “Price is Right”.   He also enjoyed listening to “Earth, Wind and Fire” and Rick James, Teena Marie. He loved watching NFL, especially the Green Bay Packers, while enjoying his Cigs and Nature Light. He was a compassionate gentle giant.

He was preceded in death by his mother Dorinda, sister, Denise, brothers, Brian, Anthony and Mitch. Special Loved Ones, Grandmother; Mary Ewing and Grandfather; John Ewing, Sr.

He leaves to cherish memories wife of 38 years, Dorothy, Son, Alvin L. Ewing, Jr., Daughter in-law Chiffonia Ewing all of Springfield, IL., Father, Walter (Dorothy) Sanders of Indiana, Brothers Melvin of Springfield, IL, Poncho of Atlanta, Ga, and Rodney of Indiana, Sister Mary Ann Ewing of Beloit, WI, Sister-in-Law; Nellie Buckner of Springfield,IL, Special Aunts, Sandra Kay Ewing, Mint Harmon, Oteria Sanders and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
