Beyond the sunset, O glad reunion, with our dear loved ones who’ve gone before; in that fair homeland we’ll know no parting, Beyond the sunset forevermore!

Alvin Dwayne Dokes was born on May 5, 1978, the son of Shirl J. Williams and the late Alvin M. Jones. He was the son-in-law of Harvey Sr. and the Late Mable Jack.

Alvin was called home to be with the Lord on March 20, 2025. During his life on Earth, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. He was a proud graduate of G.W. Carver Senior High, Class of 1997. He was employed at the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and children while being an “Uncle/Daddy” to his Nieces and Nephews. He also enjoyed working on cars with his brother Rushell “Roc” Dokes and his Friend Joshua Roberts.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories of his Wife Trinese J. Dokes, (5) children Kayla Brown, Ashonte Dokes, Shelbrina Jack, Kaliyah Dent, and Aakhirah Dokes, his Bonus children: Errick, Da’Wanna and Cherise Jack including Steven Harris. (7) grandchildren (2) Sisters: Jacqueline Dokes and Elizabeth Bryant, (1) Brother Rushell “Roc” Dokes (Adriana) and stepsister Charlene Williams (2) brother in laws Harvey Jr, (Atisha) Robert (Shaundrika) Jack, (3) Nieces: Derrione Harvey, Ayonne Dokes and Ja’Mya Price (3) Nephews: Shemar and Shelon Fields and Jaiden Dokes (3) Aunts: Debra Dokes, Janice Renfoe, and Rhea Dokes, (2) Uncles: Willie(Elizabeth) Dokes, and Warren Dokes. His First Love Bonus Sister Dominique Moss (2) God Sisters: Shuna Harvey and Champel Washington (5) Godchildren: Briana Davis, Markell Ross, Dennisha Harvey, Samiah Johnson & Jason Moss Jr. (2) Best Friends: Samuel Johnson and Kevin Gettridge. A Host of Family and Friends who loved himdearly.

Alvin was preceded in death by his Father Alvin M. Jones, Step-Father Charlie Williams Jr., Bonus son Darrick Jack and Mother-in-law Mable Jack, his grandparents Henry Jr. and Vera Dokes, Alex Sr. and Lucille Jones, his uncle’s Leroy Dokes and Alex Jones Jr. His Aunt’sBarbara A. Leonard and Audrey L. Harvey. Alvin will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and the love he shared will continue to live on in our memories forever. His kind words, giving heart, charming personality, and unique laugh & smile will live on our hearts always.

Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Community Church of River Ridge and all surrounding churches, friends, coworkers of New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board, and the 1997 C/O G. W. Carver Senior High School are all invited to attend Alvin's Viewing on Friday March 28th 2025 from 2-4 pm in the Chapel of Dennis Funeral Home 1812 Louisiana Avenue.,Visitation will continue on Saturday March 29th from 10:00 am until 10:50 am, at Gentilly Baptist Church 5141 Franklin Avenue, New Orleans, La., followed by Alvin's Homegoing Celebration at 11:00 am in the above named church,  Rev. Kenneth Cooper Sr., Officiating Minister. Interment will follow at Providence Memorial Park 8200 Airline Dr., Metairie, La. All flowers should be delivered to church Saturday Morning.
