Ambrose "Nonnie" Newton, Jr., age 78 was born on August 12, 1945, in New Orleans, LA passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024. He was educated in the Orleans Parish School System and attended Delgado Community College. Ambrose worked for South Central Bell South Telephone Company for 34 years until he retired. Ambrose is the loving husband of Edna Bertrand Newton. Beloved father of Eva Ann Newton Opoku, Terri Roberson, Kathy Newton-White (Darrin), Tracey Newton, Edrise Newton, Ladonna Newton-Nichols (Robert), Olivia Newton, Darrel Lyons, and Damon Clark, Sr. Devoted brother of Mary Weathersby and Casimino Newton. Father-in-law of Shelita Newton, Melvin Wynder, and Robert Nichols. Brother-in-law of Joseph A. Cooper, Sr. (Linda), Wallace O. Bertrand III (Lois), Troylyn Bertrand Vigne (Sidney), Donald J. Bertrand (Giselle), Debra B. Tabb and Glenn D. Bertrand (Jackie). Also survived by 25 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
