Andrew Patrick Barton Jr. (Drew) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Vero Beach, Florida passed away on September 28, 2024 at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann (Lord) along with his children Chris Barton, Kathy Barton (Grant Troja), Mike Barton (Cindy), Lynn Yardley (Peter), Tracy Ramirez, and 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Maridot Long, Patricia Grunkemeyer, and Edwin Barton. His brother, Dennis Barton, predeceased him.
Drew was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Andrew and Dorothy (Bettinger) Barton, on February 13, 1939. He was a graduate of St. Xavier High School, the University of Notre Dame and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation from Wharton, he returned to Cincinnati to work with his father and grandfather at Mutual Mfg. Supply Co., a large wholesale distributor of pipes, valves and fittings. He served as president for over 30 years.
Throughout his life, Drew was active in many community and civic affairs including serving as a board member of the Cincinnati Association of Christians and Jews, the Indian River Shores Police and Fire Pension, and the John’s Island Community Foundation. He was a founding member of the Indian River County Community Foundation and the Vero Beach site team for the United Way. He was also a board member for several private companies.
Drew was an avid golfer. One of his proudest achievements on the golf course was in 2021 when he shot his age at 82, even with two penalty shots.
In retirement, Drew loved traveling with his family and friends. He enjoyed trips to Europe, the national parks in the western United States, Montana, and especially reunions to attend Notre Dame football games. Many of his favorite times were spent in Vero Beach with his children and grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 2 at 10 am at St. Anthony Church, 6104 Desmond St. Cincinnati, Ohio
