Andrew Goodwin Jr. was born July 11, 1948 in Los Angeles, CA. Beloved son to Andrew Goodwin Sr.. He was a member of the Pala Band of Mission Indians. His mother, Charlotte Williams was from the Bishop Paiute Tribe.Andy passed away at his home in Pala, CA on Tuesday, July 15, 2014. He grew up in Los Angeles, CA most of his formative years. He graduated from Belmont High School in Los Angeles in 1968, then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and did his basic training at Camp Pendleton. Andrew served in the Vietnam War, was wounded in action and received a purple heart. He was honorably discharged at the end of his tour.Andy, or "Randy", as he was known to family members, was very kind, resourceful, a "go-getter" person in his early years. He would strike up a conversation with complete strangers….Andy loved to talk!!!Unfortunately, like so many young men who came home from the Vietnam War, he was not the same. We missed the "Lil Randy" we knew and we truly miss our brother Andy as the end to his journey is here.Andy was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his sisters Janet Goodwin of Temecula, CA, and Valarie Goodwin and Debra Dale Williams of Bishop, CA. We would like to thank the Pala Band of Mission Indians, the Berry-Bell and Hall Mortuary for all of their support and assistance during this time. A "Special Thank You" to his caretaker-friend who helped Andy thoughout the years, Ms. Florentina Erazo. There will be a rosary on Wednesday, July 23, 7:00 pm and a funeral mass on Thursday, July 24, 10:00 am at the Mission San Antonio De Pala in Pala, CA. Burial with military honors will follow at the Pala Indian Cemetery.
