I’ve known Andrew since 2011 as a resident at Union House. He was one of my very favorite people I’ve ever met. I’d often sit with him and sing How Much is That Doggie in the Windowhe’d always sing along. Sending thoughts and prayers to the family, he will be missed.

Andrew Bethune Inglis
Andrew Bethune Inglis passed away after an illness on Saturday, September 20, in Glover, Vermont.
Born on January 4, 1961 Andrew was the son of John D. Inglis and Gayle Ward Inglis. He and his brother, Peter, grew up in Underhill Center, Vermont. Following the early death of their father, Andrew and Peter were lovingly supported by their Grandfather, John B. Inglis and Grandmother, Anne Ward, who played a central role in their upbringing.
Andrew spent many joyful summers and Christmas holidays at his grandparents’ farm in Blairstown, New Jersey. These visits were often shared with cousins from Illinois, creating treasured memories of carefree days filled with adventure and family connection.
He graduated from Mount Mansfield Union High School in Jericho, Vermont and went on to earn a degree in Business from Babson College in Boston.
In adulthood, Andrew faced significant mental health challenges, ultimately being diagnosed with severe schizophrenia. Despite these difficulties, he spent his final years in the compassionate care of the staff at Union House in Glover. His brother, Peter, was unwavering in his support, calling Andrew every Sunday and staying closely involved in his care. Their aunt, Emily Ward Neuckel, and uncle, Peter Ward, were also a dedicated presence in Andrew’s life, providing invaluable support and care throughout the years.
Andrew was predeceased by his parents, John D. Inglis and Gayle W. Inglis; his brother, Peter D. Inglis; his aunt, Susan Inglis Chapman; and his uncle, Peter Ward.
Andrew is survived by his Aunt Emily Ward Neuckel, his sister-in-law Julie Hodson Inglis, along with many cousins and friends.
