Jennifer, Doug, Tyler and Debbie,
Words just aren’t adequate to express our profound sorrow for the devastating loss of your special Drew. You have all been through such extreme ordeals that no one should ever have to experience. We haven’t had any contact with you for many, many years, but in reading your posts over these past few years, your strength, positivity and love absolutely shone through loud and clear, and Drew was incredibly lucky to have you as his parents, brother and...

Our sincerest condolences to the family and friends whose lives were touched by Drew and are grieving his passing. May his memory always be a blessing to all who knew him. We will miss seeing him as he proudly watched his brother train in martial arts class. His presence will not be forgotten.

To Drew’s family — you don’t know me, and I don’t really know you, though I was connected by a few degrees of separation through friends of friends. Somehow, Drew’s journey found its way to me about two years ago, and I have been following ever since. Through Doug and Jennifer’s journal entries, I felt the pain, the hope, the setbacks, and the victories alongside you.
I watched the funeral on Zoom and cried with you. I never met Drew, yet through your storytelling, I feel like I...

So many of us in the FBI St. Louis office are grieving with your dear family. It was an honor to meet Drew on multiple occasions. We enjoyed hearing him read his book to many of our own kids at the Halloween party in October 2025. Thank you for sharing him with us and allowing us to be a part of your family's journey. We wish you great peace and solace in his memory. Drew's bravery continues to be a motivation to our office. Peace and blessings to you.

Jennifer, Doug, Tyler, Aunt Debbie,
I didn't get to meet Drew in person, but I saw him in Mommy's tummy while she was still teaching at DES.
Words pale and often fail. I don't know what say.
I do know that Drew lived a perfectly loved life. His life was filled with purpose and love.
His life and memory will forever be a lesson and Blessing.

Andrew “Drew” Patchin passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by friends and family, on January 1, 2026. He was 12 years old. Drew is survived by his loving parents, Jennifer and Doug Patchin; his best friend and little brother, Tyler Patchin (8); his aunts and uncles, Debbie Schultz, Jeff and Kristen Patchin, and John and Trisha Patchin; as well as many cousins and extended family members who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Craig and Sandy Schultz, and Wayne and Judy Patchin. By Drew’s side throughout his journey was his loyal service dog and constant companion, Snoopy, whose presence brought him comfort, companionship, and unwavering devotion.
Drew became widely known for his courageous and unwavering battle against a rare form of brain cancer, which he faced with remarkable strength, grace, and resilience for more than six years. Just as memorable as his bravery was Drew’s genuine kindness toward everyone around him and his sense of humor, which brought light, laughter, and comfort even in the hardest moments. He had a rare ability to make others feel seen, included, and cared for.
Drew accomplished so much in his short 12 years. He proudly served as the honorary parade marshal of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, became a Junior FBI Agent, and joined the UMSL Tritons baseball team. Drew’s dream of being famous came true in 2023 when he hosted the Fox2 Morning Show, a moment that brought joy to everyone who knew him.
In August 2025, Drew became a published author with his inspiring book Marshmallow Can Do Hard Things. Through the lovable character, a narwhal named Marshmallow, Drew shares that anyone can face challenges by making a plan and practicing. Drew’s book has been sold in all 50 states and seven countries.
Drew and his family shared countless special memories together, including amazing travels with a special love for Disney adventures. Drew had a big heart for mascots, and his favorites included Fredbird, Louie, and Disney’s beloved Dopey along with the playful brother duo Chip and Dale. These characters brought him endless joy and laughter.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt and special thank you to everyone in “Drew’s Crew” for the love, encouragement, and unwavering support shown to our hero throughout his long journey. Though his life was far too short, Drew’s impact was extraordinary. His courage, kindness, humor, and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him and in the many lives he inspired.
