Ann's Obituary

Ann Margaret Spearnock (née Vargovich) 88 of Lorain, passed away Saturday November 8, 2025, at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home, Lorain following a battle with Alzheimer’s dementia. She was born July 23,1937 in Hostetter, Pennsylvania to Michael and Mary Vargovich (née Oslavsky). 

Ann worked as a cook at Family Restaurant and Vangeloff's Restaurant beside being a homemaker. She always loved cooking for family and friends. Every weekend she played pinochle, bingo, and lottery. She loved doing crossword puzzles. Ann was a member of Saint Francis Cabrini Parish, Lorain. 

She is survived by daughters Victoria Sawyer and Mary Ann Gumble of Lorain Catherine (Darryl) Burghart of Harrah, Oklahoma; sons George Spearnock of Lorain and John (Nipha) Spearnock of Phoenix, Arizona; sister Susann Sphon of Hostetter; brother Paul Vargovich of Lorain; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Other than her parents Ann was preceded in death by her husband George of 68 years in 2024; sisters Mary Miller and Joanne Vargovich; brothers Michael, George, John, Joseph, and Andrew Vargovich and sons-in-law Theodore Sawyer and David Gumble.  

Her family will receive friends at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st, South Lorain, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 4 to 6pm. Her funeral service will be at the funeral home Thursday, November 13, at 10am. Rev. Father Niel G. Walters, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
