Anne Bartley Young
Anne Bartley Young, affectionately known as (Ma, Ms. Anne, Moot, Auntie Moot), was born February 21, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Carpenter Hospice house in River Ridge La., at the age of 86 on October 6, 2025. Anne was educated in the Orleans Parish school system where she attended McDonough 35 High School graduating a year early. After high school Anne attended Xavier University of New Orleans. Anne remained home raising her sons until starting elementary school before beginning a career with the federal government, initially with Small Business Administration helping numerous businesses’ get established. Next, she transferred to the Veterans Administration where she assisted/helped Veterans with Educational, Medical, Home Loans, and other Benefits for Veterans until her retirement to take care of her parents. Anne was an active member of St, Raymond/St Leo the Great Catholic Church for over 50 years. She served on the St. Vincent DePaul ministry as secretary and other organizations within the church for numerous years until her health started to slow down. She was also a Big fan of Johnny Mathis. She leaves to cherish precious memories two sons, Errol Michael Young (Barbara), Gregg Anthony Young (Sabra), one grandson Shakir, one granddaughter Safiya, and three great grandchildren, Zariya, Zaniya, Zayvion. Two sisters Carolyn (Curb), and Betty Craig (Barry), also a devoted longtime Friend Doris Porter over 60 years. Anne also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family friends and all the individuals that she shared that smile and jovial spirit with. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward M. Young Jr. (Brother, Blood) for almost 50 years, parents, Aaron Bartley and Louise Bartley Jr., sisters Maxine Ousley (William), Isabel Johnson (Charles), In-laws Edward and Laura Young Sr, Sister-In-law Idella Carter, In laws Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dandridge Sr., and a special friend Paul Francisco. Relatives and friends of the family, also Priest and parishioners of St. Raymond & St. Leo Catholic Church are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 17, 2025 at St. Raymond & St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2916 Paris Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70119 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122.
