Annette Anderson Jensen passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. She was born on August 20, 1935, to Carl and Annie Anderson in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her family moved to Bluffdale when she was 12, where she made lifelong friends and enjoyed swimming in the canal, beginning her life-long love of the water.
She graduated from Jordan High School where she met Vernon Jensen her sophomore year. They attended many dances together and became completely smitten with each other. They were engaged on June 14, 1951, and married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 23, 1952. Their first apartment was in the home that later became the original location of Berrett’s Blossoms. Vernon and Annette quickly started their family and soon purchased their first and only home where they raised their seven children.
Annette enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, gardening, crafting, cooking, and canning. Her favorite hobbies, however, involved the water. She loved swimming in the moonlight, floating rivers and canals, sitting in a hot tub, wading in the ocean, and doing water aerobics. Once she got in the water, it was difficult to get her out! Camping was another beloved hobby, and her favorite locations were American Fork Canyon, the Potter Farm, and her beloved Camperworld. A homecooked breakfast over a hot griddle was her favorite meal!
An amazing mom and grandma, Annette always supported her children and grandkids in all their activities. She and Vernon attended many school programs, dance recitals, and sporting events over the years. Annette also loved having the grandkids over for Easter egg hunts, painting pumpkins, and decorating holiday cookies. In addition, she always remembered birthdays and made Christmas extra special.
Talkative and friendly, Annette made friends easily and stayed in touch with them over the years. Many of those friends gathered monthly for “club” meetings where laughter and friendly chatter could be heard well into the night. Her outgoing personality also led to both she and Vernon becoming heavily involved in church and community service. They helped with town days and other community events and assisted with planning ward outings for the old Riverton 2nd ward. These outings were a big summer event, and something ward members looked forward to attending.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Annette held many callings throughout her life including cub scout den leader, Primary chorister, Ward Relief Society president, Stake Relief Society counselor, genealogy extraction worker, and temple worker at the Jordan River Temple. However, her service didn’t stop there. Annette was known for taking holiday cookies and vegetables from her garden to the neighbors. She was the most proud of her bodacious corn on the cob! In addition, she made sure the elderly were always taken care of. She simply loved serving others.
Annette lived life to the fullest and could never accept getting old. She fought the aging process with every fiber of her being! She is survived by her seven children Bonnie (Dan), Sherie, Scott, Duane (Renee’), Paula (Blayne), Jennifer (Travis), and Jason (Emily); brother Larry (Kris) Anderson; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one soon to be great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Annie Anderson; husband, Vernon; and daughter-in-law, Ann Jensen.
A special thanks to the staff members at Cedarwood and Suncrest Hospice, who all took exceptional care of Annette, including her daughter, Jennifer. They were not just caregivers, but cherished friends.
