Annette's Obituary

Mrs. Annette W Washington, 67, of Jackson, MS, died February 26, 2026, in Jackson, MS. She was born July 10, 1958.

Annette Washington was born on July 10, 1958, in Grenada, Mississippi, to Lula Mathis-Brown. She was the third of four children. She was married to Aaron Washington and was the mother of one to Rodney Wash.

At the turn of the 20th Century, Annette Washington’s career in the food industry took a positive turn. She was selected as one of the first Industrial Food Inspectors at Tyson Foods, Inc in the Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Program (HACCP). It was that experience which enabled her to obtain a position in the Meat & Deli Department at Kroger, Inc. in Newport News, Virginia as a Specialist. She later turned to the retail sales industry by being hired as a Retail Sales Representative and Associate at Burlington Coat Factory in Newport News, Virginia. She set the standard for appearance, style technique, mannerisms, with fast and friendly service. Her working attire was rumored to be well over one million dollars in- house purchases as a reward for continual sales growth from 2003- 2006. In 2007, she retired from the sales industry due to health concerns.

She was preceded in death by mother, Lula Mathis-Brown; sister, Emma Lee Wash-White; and brothers, Billy Faye Wash and Norris Washington.

She leaves to cherish her memories: spouse, Aaron Washington; son, Rodney Washington; grandchildren, Tiakka Wash and Tameiah Wash; great-grandchild, Taigan Reign Wash; niece, Kenisha Butts; nephews, Cristopher Wash, Ian Wash, Reginald Wash, and Gary White; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.
