Annie Bernice James Hills
Annie Bernice James Hills, age 72 was born on July 5, 1953 in Benton, Mississippi, departed this earthly realm from her heavenly home on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Ochsner Baptist in New Orleans, LA surrounded by her family . She was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington Senior High School, Class of 1972. Annie left New Orleans in 1988, and resided in Chicago, Illinois. In 1993, Annie returned to New Orleans, where she continued her education and graduated from Nunez Community College. She was a devoted member of Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board. She was also an active member of the Senior Citizens choir and ministry. She was a former employee of Bally’s, Treasure Chest, Boomtown, Harrah’s Casino and Louis Armstrong International Airport. At the time of her passing she was employed at Hoffman Early Learning Center where she served as a Teacher’s Aide. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, one daughter, Andrea James-Glapion, her grand children, Anjuiel Knight and Kentrell Glapion, her mother, Birdia James, one brother, Judas James (Evangeline), one sister-in-law Sandra James, three god children, Darius Day, Darneisha Thomas, and Londyn Carter, beloved life long friends Valerie Evans, Brenda Lewis and Phyllis Bolden, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, and friends. Annie is preceded in death by her furry son, Frosty, her father, Theodies James, one brother Calvin James, Sr., one nephew Calvin James, Jr., and one godson, Farrell Parker. Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastor, officers and members of Greater St. Stephen FGBC, Booker T. Washington Senior High School c/o 1972 and the staff of Bally's Treasure Chest, Boomtown, Harrah's Casino, Louis Armstrong International Airport and Hoffman Early Learning Center are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church, 5600 Read Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70127 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Followed by Interment on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Providence Memorial Park, 8200 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70003 at 11:00 a.m..
