Antonio's Obituary

Antonio “Toñio” Nieto, 71, of Encinal, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on January 6, 1954, in Laredo, Texas, Toñio was known by all as a man of great strength, generosity, and heart.

He was the hardest working man and the strongest person his family knew — a true example of resilience and selflessness. Toñio never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. A mechanic by trade and by passion, he poured his soul into his work and took pride in helping others keep moving forward, both on the road and in life.

Beyond his work, Toñio found joy in life’s simple pleasures — sitting around with a good cup of coffee, sharing stories, and enjoying his favorite sweets. His kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eriberto Nieto and Antonia Ponce Nieto, and his two brothers, Eriberto Nieto Jr., Noe Nieto and grandson Matthew Eugene Mora.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Guadalupe Nieto; his children, Diane Nieto Mora (Eugene Mora III), Antonio Nieto Jr., and Jacqueline Nieto (Isaac Gage), granddaughter EmmaJean Mora and his beloved seven sisters, Amelia Medina, Romana Hearn, Anita Nieto, Ruth Nieto, Queta Valles, Christina Guerra, and Sonia Nieto. He will also be remembered by his extended family, many friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his big heart and even bigger spirit.

Toñio’s legacy of strength, kindness, and hard work will continue to live on through those who loved him most
