April Little Woods, age 46, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
Born on May 1, 1979, in Charleston, Mississippi, April was the beloved daughter of Roger Little and the late Rita Pearson Fillyaw.
April earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and dedicated most of her career to teaching at Greenbrook Elementary School in Southaven, Mississippi. She dearly loved her “babies” at school and poured her heart into shaping young lives. Teaching was not just her profession—it was her calling.
A faithful servant of the Lord, April found daily strength and joy in her Bible study. Her faith guided her life and shone through her kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, relaxing at the beach when she was able, and spending time with her beloved dog, Oakley.
April is survived by her loving father, Roger Little, two sisters, Rhonda Little of Charleston, Mississippi, and Michelle Little of Charleston, Mississippi, and three brothers, Joseph Smith (Amy) of Charleston, Mississippi, Caine Little of Cleveland, Mississippi, and Zachary Little of Charleston, Mississippi.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Rita Pearson Fillyaw.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Womble Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 23, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Womble Funeral Home, with Bro. Shelly Scallions officiating.
Interment will follow at Adams Arbor Cemetery in Paynes, Mississippi.
