What a wonderful lady Arlene was. I was lucky enough to know her from Countryview and felt she was such a lovely person. Condolences to all. I did not know her mother was a LaRose, a name within my own family. ❤

Arlene's Obituary

Arlene M. Fone, 91, formerly of Ellis Rd., Town of Ellisburg, and widow of Ernest “Trix” Fone, passed away Saturday, November 4th, 2023, at the Samaritan Keep Home where she was a resident.

Services will be private for the convenience of the family at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.   The burial will be in Ellisburg Cemetery.

Arlene is survived by her children Gordon (Nancy) Nemier, MA, Arlene “Tina” (Kevin) Shettleton, Carthage, Belinda “Spring” (Wayne) Schroeder, Parksville, NY, Dennis (Rayna) Fone, NC, Randy (Melissa) Fone, Adams, daughter-in-law, Jane Nemier, Adams Center; Stepchildren, Brenda Mullin, Mannsville and Elizabeth (Lester) Berghorn, Tylerville; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Wendell Nemier, a daughter Connie Manav, a stepson, Ernest Fone, Jr., and a daughter, Anne Fone, who died in infancy.  She was also predeceased by her nine brothers and sisters.

She was born one of ten children in Rensselaer Falls, NY on October 16, 1932, a daughter to Arthur and Helen LaRose LaGray.  She married Ernest E. “Trix” Fone February 8th, 1959, in Mannsville.  Mr. Fone died August 21st, 1999.  A previous marriage to William Gordon Nemier ended in divorce.

Mrs. Fone worked for several places in the county to include Phinney’s Farm in Mannsville; with Joyce Brown making ceramics; for Fred and Lois Langworthy at the Pierrepont Manor Inn and Ramada Inn, just to name a few.

Arlene was named “Resident of the Month” at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home during the month of October 2023.  She enjoyed doing ceramics, crossword puzzles, playing cards with family and friends, and watching the New York Yankees.  But above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
