Armando was a "good friend of mine and so generous (like a caring other-Dad)." Armando had a way of making almost everyone (that is wanting God the Father to be their Hero), special and loved. I was informed, by a former co-worker of his passing; and, I was in "shock," as Armando would text me and check on me regularly.

Armando's Obituaries

   Armando Rios Sr., Beloved Popo, also known to many as the Man the Myth the Legend, and whose heart was made of pure Gold, has passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday February 12, 2022. He was 67 years old.   

     Armando was born February 19, 1954 in Karnes City, TX, raised in Stanton, TX, to Alejandro and Augustina Rios. In 1973, he graduated from Stanton High School and shortly after enlisted in the United State Army serving as a Sgt.-E5 during Vietnam. He was stationed in Colorado Springs Colorado (Fort Carson).   

     Armando met and married the Love of his life Susanne Dominguez on Oct 10, 1973.  They resided in Midland, TX and raised three children. He was a long-life working husband, father, and grandfather. He had worked in the US postal Service and then went into the Oil Industry, working for 23 yrs until his accident 2009 that debilitated him to continue working. During his disability, Armando courageously battled stage four throat cancer and had been in remission the last 6yrs.  

     Following his wife's death in 2019, he became employed with EZ Rider Transportation up until his death He impacted the community and his fellow co-workers. Armando enjoyed spending time with family, having cookouts, watching football, and was passionate about the Dallas Cowboys and the local high school team, the Lee Rebels  (Legacy High School ). Most of all he love spoiling his grandchildren and great grand children whom he loved and cherished with all his heart. He will be missed greatly by all his family and friends.

     Those left to cherish his memory includes his children; two daughters Jennifer Armendariz and husband Victor of Midland, TX and Jeannette Rios and husband Daniel of Midland, TX;  two sons Jeff Doyle of Magnolia, TX and Armando Rios Jr of Midland, TX; Four Brothers Alejandro Rios Jr and wife Sylvia of Stanton, TX, Abel Rios of Big Spring, TX,  Arturo Rios of Stanton, TX and Amador Rios of Big Spring, TX; 3 sisters Alicia Guzman of Big Spring, TX,  Esperanza  (Hope) Sandoval of Galveston TX and Gloria Moran of Corpus Christi, TX; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

     He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Susanne Rios, mother Augustina Rios, father Alejandro Rios Sr., great granddaughter Ava Alvarez and sister Aida Rios.

     Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering with the Viewing Thursday February 17th, 2022 from 9am to 9pm. Rosary will be held at 7pm Friday February 18th 2022 at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home.

     Funeral Mass will be Saturday February 19, 2022 at 10am at Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Parish and Shrine. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens.

     Pallbearers for the service will be Thomas Rios, Adam Guzman, Jacob Rios, Robert Rios, Joshua Rios, Amador Rios Jr, Phillip Herrera, & David Armendariz. Honorary pallbearer is Johnny Ortega.
