Arthur W. Bearce

Arthur W. Bearce, 90, of Pompton Plains, NJ, formerly of Upper Montclair, NJ, passed away Saturday,September 6, 2014. Born December 15, 1923 in Fitchburg, MA, Arthur was raised by the Bradley family in Newton, MA. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1942 and was assigned to the VF-92 Fighter Squadron, serving on theUSS Lexington as a Designated VF-Fighter Pilot. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Arthur was a long time employee of the Lane Furniture Company as well as an active member the Montclair Operetta Club. Arthur is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret (McCarthy); his daughters, Gail Bacon (John) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; Margaret Scott Ludwig (Richard) of Pembroke, MA; and Karen Bischoping (Stanley) of Williamson, NY; his four grandsons: Peter B. Scott (Megan) of Plymouth, MA; DouglasA. Scott (Suzette) of Clemmons, NC; Mathias S. Bischoping (Robin) of Williamson, NY; and Capt. Nathan S. Bischoping (Melissa) of Minot AFB, ND; four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 16, at 11 AM at the Chapel at Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains, NJ. Interment will be held at a later date at Bourne Military Cemetery, Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local Hospice organization.
