Arthur's Obituary

Arthur Frankford Evett, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on February 24, 2026. He was born on June 13, 1937, in Mesa, Arizona to Lawrence Evett and Willie Evett Smith.

Arthur grew up in Midwest City and graduated in 1955. In 1956, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country honorably until 1960, followed by two additional years in the Reserves.

Arthur met the love of his life, Mary Jean Simmons, and they were married on January 5, 1960, in Reno, Nevada. They made their home in Midwest City for ten years before moving to Dibble in 1970, where they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.

Arthur worked as a machinist for the Federal Aviation Administration until his retirement on April 1, 1994. He was a man who could fix anything. Many evenings were spent in his garage working on projects, or in the field bailing hay, yet he would always pause to challenge his kids to a game of horse any chance he got. To Arthur, every project was a teaching opportunity. He made sure his children were watching, learning, and helping so they would know how to do it themselves. His patience, skill, and steady guidance shaped generations. He was able to spend his 66th anniversary on January 5th going to the casino to get his "$200 free lunch" as he would always say.

He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with his whole heart. His pride in his family was evident in everything he did.

Arthur was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Evett; his mother, Willie Evett Smith; his sister, Barbara Pittman; niece Shelly Pittman and his great-granddaughter, Elsie Paige Birnie.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Evett; his sister Cheryl and Steve Ritchie; his daughter, Kathy and Steve Jevons; his son, David and Rhonda Evett; and his daughter, Melinda Duke. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Darci and Greg Hays; Jessica Cline; Tazden and Alexis Jevons; Emily Jevons; Zachary and Dominique Evett; Hunter and Riley Birnie; Caitlyn Birnie; Bryce and Zoe Duke; Logan Duke; and Cooper Duke.

He is further survived by his great-grandchildren: Talan Hays, Ryker Hays, Hendrix Hays, Bohdi Hays, Cade Cline, Cage Cline, Ella Cline, Daxx Cline, Nolan Birnie, Emerson Birnie, and Asher Birnie.

Arthur’s legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the things he built, and the family he loved so deeply. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

Viewing will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M., Sunday, March 1, 2026 at the funeral home.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 2, 2026 at New Home Full Gospel Church in Dibble, with interment to follow at Dibble Cemetery.
