Arthur J. Gernatt, 76, of East Concord, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 10, 2024. He was born in Gowanda, NY, on January 5, 1948. He was a self-employed dairy farmer who owned and operated A.J. Gernatt Farm for 52+ years. A graduate of and long-time parishioner at St. Aloysius Parish in Springville, NY, his life was dedicated to his faith, family and farming. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine (Gamel) Gernatt of 54 years; loving father of Barbara (Howard) Hoelscher, Richard (Kathleen), Kathleen (James) Kehr, Paul (Tracey), Deborah (Jed) Zehnder, and Sharon (David) Smith; grandchildren Howard Jr., Daniel (fiancée Lynea), and Miriam Hoelscher; Rachel, Dylan, Haley, Madison, and Mitchell Kehr; Elizabeth “Libby” and Ethan Gernatt; Emily and Ryan Zehnder; Austin Smith. Arthur was the son of the late Paul and Rita (Timmel) and is survived by his siblings Martha “Joyce” Kehr, Olive “Ollie” (Late Werner) Stang, late Rita (Norbert) Gabel, late Theresa (Harold) Butzer, Rose (Robert) Butzer, late Suzanne (Martin) Niefergold, Mary (late Charles) Richmond, late Paul “Digger” (Annette), late Joan Schuster, Annette (John) Noto, Bernadette (late Mickey) Folts, Joseph “Duffer” (Jenny), and Diane (Stephen) Woloszyn, Brother-in –law of David (Diane) Gamel and Joyce (late David) Schmitz. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and many friends. Visitation Monday, May 13, 2-4 and 6:30-8:30 at Wentland Funeral Home, 10634 Main Street, North Collins, NY. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, May 14, 11am at St. Aloysius RC Church, Franklin Street, Springville. Memorials welcomed in Art’s name to Hospice or St. Aloysius RC Church, Springville, NY.
