Not sure what to say?

I first remember Ashok uncle in Balvihar- him and Hamsa auntie were a team always.
I recall him as a kind hearted and humble individual, although he had very high expectations for us kids and lateness was not tolerated :)
I grew up seeing him as an adult I could always go to and a pillar of our community.
You could tell that mentoring and investing in youth was his passion, otherwise no one would wake up early on a Sunday and do this voluntarily.

He really believed...

Our condolences to the family. We’re very sorry for your loss.

Dr. Kumar was the best of the best! He was a kind man and the best orthopedist I've ever known. He will truly be missed. He was recommended to me from another orthopedist and I gave his name out to many of my friends and family. Prayers to you and your family.

If there is such a thing as heaven, then my brother Ashok is, without a doubt, looking down upon us and smiling. I have never known a person as altruistic, honest, kind and levelheaded as him. I say this with confidence, because I have had the good fortune to have known him since we were teenagers. Having lived together in the same dorm at Dow Medical, and having shared the same apartment in Dublin along with Sarfraz, and on countless trips since then, I never saw him either be upset,...

I had the privilege of working with Dr. Ashok Kumar during my time at Signature Ortho, where he was known not only for his clinical excellence but also for his humility, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his patients and colleagues. Those who knew him will remember his calm presence, generous spirit, and willingness to help everyone who crossed his path. His impact extended far beyond the clinic or workplace — it lives on in the many lives he touched, healed, and uplifted. Dr. Kumar...

I will sorely miss Ashok- a good friend, colleague, doctor, compassionate human being ... so long, dear friend!
Ravi Shitut.

What a loss. Ash was one of the best clinicians that I have ever known. He helped me with many difficult patient decisions.

So sorry for the loss of a devoted person. May God grant his soul eternal peace

Ashok was a remarkable human being with countless admirable qualities. Even in the few times I had the privilege of meeting him, he left a lasting impression. His kindness and warmth will never be forgotten. Gone far too soon, he will be deeply and dearly missed.

Ashok's Obituary

Ashok Kumar (1961-2026)

Ashok Kumar, 65, of Saint Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on January 15, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Ashok was born in Bela, Pakistan, in 1961 to Nirmala Jethani and the late Dalut Ram. He was the eldest in his family with four siblings, Lala, Prem, Hari, and Gaytri. From a young age, he helped his father run the family clothing store. Driven by a deep love of learning, Ashok pursued medicine at Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi, Pakistan, where he formed lifelong friendships and met his wife, Drupadi.

Guided by an adventurous spirit, Ashok and Drupadi traveled to the United Kingdom for orthopedic surgery training before eventually settling in Saint Louis, Missouri. There, he completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Kumar practiced at Signature Orthopedic South County for over 25 years and was deeply loved and respected by his colleagues and patients alike.

Ashok dedicated his life to service, both professionally and within his community. He was an active leader with Bal Vihar of Saint Louis and the Hindu and Durga Temples of Saint Louis. He was also an initiated member and devoted practitioner of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness.

Ashok found great joy in running and completed multiple marathons with his daughter, Komal. He was a passionate Liverpool FC fan and cherished watching countless matches with his son, Krishna. He enjoyed sampling homemade baked breads with his family and warmly welcomed his daughter-in-law, Ashley, to the family in 2023. Above all, Ashok treasured his role as a grandfather to Maya.

Ashok’s vibrant energy, boundless enthusiasm, and selflessness will be profoundly missed by his family and the Saint Louis community.
