Austin Feig, baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection, Monday, December 30, 2024 at the age of 90.
Beloved husband for 58 years of Judith Feig; loving father of James (Jill) Feig, Anne Feig Bayne, and Rebecca (Stephen Whyte) Ralston; grandfather of Danica Feig; dear brother of the late Norma Garett, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Austin was born in 1934 in New York City to Harry and Sophie Feig. He graduated from Patchogue High School on Long Island, New York in 1952. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from Fordham University. He joined the US Air Force. The USAF sent Austin to Oklahoma State University where he studied Meteorology and was then stationed in England.
After his Air Force service, he completed a Master’s Degree in Meteorology at St. Louis University. Austin’s career as a meteorologist spanned 40 years starting with United Airlines and moving onto the National Weather Service, the last 10 years of which were spent on the Fire Weather Program. The National Weather Service partnered with the Oregon State Forestry Department to aid in the prevention and suppression of forest fires. During the fire season, he would provide forecasts to the firefighters and helicopter pilots at the fire camp site.
He enjoyed traveling and exploring the Pacific Northwest before returning to St. Louis in 1997 where he had many years to visit with friends and relatives.
Services: Visitation at the Ascension Catholic Church, 230 Santa Maria Dr., Chesterfield, Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 9:30 AM until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM.
