Not sure what to say?

I first met Austin through some mutual friends in high school. I can only thank his mother for choosing to settle their home in Hyde Park. One of the best friends and brothers I would come to have had been living around the corner from my childhood home - I’m not sure for how long.

We cultivated a relationship over the years that thrived on long conversations about life, about things that really mattered, and things that really didn’t. We enjoyed spending time together and soaking...

An incredible person who always had a smile on his face. I’ll never forget you Austin.

I loved Austin’s passion for fireworks and how he was so excited to put on an impressive show for us, when he was a kid, each July 4th. Now seeing fireworks will be a beautiful reminder of a loving and sweet person, who is always loved and will be greatly missed.

Austin was my neighbor and a frequent visitor to my house in Cincinnati twenty-three years ago. I’m so very sad to hear of his passing. He was a lovable kid and I’m certain he grew to be a wonderful man. So sorry he left so soon.

I was with you when you came into this world and watched you grow. You always were and still are a part of our family. I treasure the time that we spent together and that will help me to get through this difficult time. I know that you loved me. I am comforted by the thought that you knew that I loved you. We will try to move on but it will be difficult. There is a void in the place once occupied by your brilliance. We will miss your smile, your laugh and your presence in our lives. ...

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.

Austin Graham Gruen, 31, passed away on February 2, 2026, leaving behind a space that can never be filled and a love that will never fade. Beloved son of Teri Gruen. Sweet brother of Meghan Johnson (Zach) and Amber Putz (Curran). Dear uncle of Henry, Auggie, Wells, and Jonah. Loving partner of Krystle Young, and her son, James, who held a special place in his heart. Also survived by his grandmother, stepmom, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and countless Pearl’s Bar coworkers and patrons who became like family to him. A deep thinker, a lover of meaningful conversations, a tender soul with an infectious laugh and smile. He will be deeply missed. Where there is deep grief, there was great love. He was greatly loved. A private memorial service will be held for family on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
